省略句知識點總結：含if的八種省略結構

If true, this will cause us a lot of trouble.= If it is true, this will cause us a lot of trouble.

注：這類省略結構中有的已構成相對固定的搭配，if necessary (如果需要)，if possible (如果可能)等。如：
If necessary, ring me at home. 如果必要，可往我家里打電話。
If possible, let me know beforehand. 如果可能，可在事前通知我。
類型二：if + 過去分詞
其中的過去分詞可視為是被省略的被動結構，即在if與形容詞之間省略了主語和助動詞be。如：
He will come if asked.= He will come if he is asked.
他如被邀就會來。
The medicine is quite effective if taken in time.=The medicine is quite effective if it is taken in time.
這藥要是能按時服用，效果是很好的。
類型三：if + 不定代詞
這類省略通常要根據具體的上下文來理解。如：
If anyone, he knows. 如果有人知道，那就是他了。
There are few people nowadays, if any, who remember him.
當今記得他的人，如有的話，也不多了。
He seems to have little, if anything, to do with this.
若要說他和這事有什么相關的話，那也似乎是很少的。

這類結構往往要根據具體的語境來理解，但有些經常搭配的慣用結構也值得注意，如if in doubt, if at all, if by any chance等。如：
If in doubt, ask your doctor. He can give you further information.
你若有疑問，可以問問醫生. 他會向你作進一步的說明。
Their policies have changed little, if at all, since the last election.
自上次選舉以來，他們的政策就算是有所變化，也變得很少。
If by any chance you cant manage dinner tonight, perhaps we can at least have a drink together.

if ever 可視為習語，它通常與seldom連用，表示極少難得。如：
She seldom, if ever, goes to the cinema. 她難得看電影。
He seldom if ever travels abroad. 他到國外旅行，即使有過，也是極少的。
注：有時ever后面還修飾有其他詞語。如：
The island is seldom if ever visited by ships. 這個島難得有船停靠。
另外，它有時還可引出一個句子。如：
If ever youre in Cambridge, do give me a ring. 萬一你來劍橋，一定要給我打電話。

if not 可視為一個否定的條件狀語從句省略。如：
I might see you tomorrow. If not, then itll be Saturday.

注：有時not還可修飾另一個詞語。如：
