　　若只有一個(gè)主語(yǔ)，謂語(yǔ)的數(shù)則取決于該主語(yǔ)的數(shù);若有幾個(gè)主語(yǔ)并列，則通常是與靠近的主語(yǔ)保持一致。如：

　　There is a man at the door.

　　門口有個(gè)人。

　　There are some girls in the room.

　　房間里有幾個(gè)女孩。

　　There is a pen and some books on the desk.

　　桌上有一支鋼筆和一些書。

　　但有時(shí)說話人先說出了there is(was)，然后才想到要用復(fù)形名詞，此時(shí)則會(huì)出現(xiàn)there is后接復(fù)數(shù)主語(yǔ)的情況。如：

　　Theres some things I cant resist.

　　有些事物我是不抗拒的。

　　Theres hundreds of people on the waiting list.

　　登記排隊(duì)的人有好幾百。
