　　Ⅰ. say “說、講”普通用語，指用言語表達思想，強調所說的內容。如：

　　① What did he say? 他說了些什么?

　　② He said that it was true. 他說那是真實的。

　　Ⅱ. speak “說、講”可表示以任何一種方式說話。它著重于說話這一動作本身。而不強調所說的內容。為不及物動詞。作及物動詞時與表語言的詞連用。如：

　　① Please speak more slowly. 請說得慢一些。

　　② The baby is learning to speak. 這小孩在學說話。

　　③ She can speak English fluently. 她英語說得很流利。

　　Ⅲ. talk “談話、講話”，通常表連貫地與別人談話。強調談話這一動作，而不是內容。如：

　　① He was talking to a friend. 他在和一個朋友談話。

　　② He went on talking for a long time, but he spoke so fast that few of us could catch what he said. 他滔滔不絕地講了半天，但是他說得太快，我們幾乎沒有什么人能聽懂他說的些什么。

　　③ She is always talking nonsense. 她總愛講廢話。

　　Ⅳ. tell “告訴、講述”指將某事講給別人聽。它有時還有“吩咐、命令”等含義。如：

　　① He told the news to everybody in the village. 他把這消息告訴了村子里的每個人。

　　② She told me not to write the letter. 她叫我不要寫信了。
