from 的用法說明
1. 注意不要因漢語習慣的影響，誤用 from：
自1990年以來他直住在這里。
正：He has lived here since 1990.
誤：He has lived here from 1990.
太陽從東方升起，從西方落下。
正：The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
誤：The sun rises from in the east and sets from the west.
展覽會將從星期三開始。
正：The exhibition will begin on Monday.
誤：The exhibition will begin from Monday.
2. 其后可接副詞或介詞短語。如：
Its a short distance from here. 從這兒去不遠。
The cat jumped out from under the bed. 貓從床底下跳出來。
He chose three from among these books. 他從這些書當中選了3本。
正因為可接介詞短語作賓語，所以下面這句中的 from where 就不難理解了。如：
He hid himself in a tree, from where he could seethe ememy in the distance. 他躲在一棵樹上，從那兒他可以看到遠處的敵人 。
3. 從今天起多久以后 ，用一段時間+from today 。如：
Threeweeks from today is a holiday. 從今天起放三周假。
Ill comeback a month from today. 我下個月的今天回來。
4. 關于 fromto：
用于時間、地點、變化、數目等。如：
I worked there from Mayto August. 我從5月至8月在那兒工作。
They flew from Paris toRome. 他們坐飛機從巴黎到羅馬。
Therere from sixty to eightypeople present. 出席的有60至80人。
Things went rapidly frombad to worse. 情況很快變得越來越糟。
用于時間時，可用 fromtill, until, through。如：
We workfrom Monday to [till, until, through] Friday. 我們從星期一工作到星期五。
但是若沒有 from 則不能用 to。如：
I stayed there till [until, through, up to] September. 一直到九月我都住在那兒。
用于下列習語 。如：
from side to side 從一邊到另一邊，左右
from house to house 挨家挨戶
from handto hand 從一人之手到他人之手
from door to door挨家挨戶
fromtime to time 不時地
