初中英語語法：一般現在時表示過去

　　1.用于某些動詞表示不確定的過去時間

　　用于某些動詞(tell, say, hear, learn, gather等)表示不確定的過去時間。如：

　　John tells me you will leave tomorrow. 約翰告訴我你明天離開。

　　I hear that he got married last month. 我聽說他上個月結婚了。

　　Mary says you told her to come over here. 瑪麗說是你讓她到這兒來的。

　　It really gets me when he says those stupid things. 他說那些傻話真讓我生氣。

　　2. 用于生動地描述過去的故事或經歷

　　當給人講故事或敘述自己親身經歷的事情時，雖然有些事已成為過去，往往也使用現在時，以使敘述顯得生動有趣。如：

　　Then the man in the mask pulls a revolverout of his pocket and raises it. I put up my hands. Then suddenly the man raises the mask and I see my best friend! It all was a joke. 隨后那個戴假面具的人從口袋里掏出左輪手槍，舉了起來。我舉起了雙手。這時那個人突然掀開了假面具，他原來是我最好的朋友。他是在跟我開玩笑哩。

　　3. 用于表示死者的言行

　　現在一般時可以表死者的動作或狀態，如果死者的理論、著作仍舊存在并仍有影響的話，如：

　　Marx says that a foreign language is a weapon in the struggle of life. 馬克思說外國語是人生斗爭的武器。

　　Darwin thinks that natural select ion is the chief factor in the development of species. 達爾文認為自然淘汰是物種發展中的主要因素。

　　當死者(多指死后不久者)的動作與現在直接有關時，亦可用現在一般時，如：

　　He leaves a wife and two children. 他留下了一個妻子和兩個孩子。 (he 剛死去)

　　人雖死但物猶在時，亦可用現在一般時，如：

　　In that letter she tells why she was up there. 在那封信里，她告訴我為什么她要上那兒去。 (she已死，但信猶在)

　　This memorial is placed hereby his friends and neighbours in testimony of respect, affection and gratitude. 這個紀念碑是他的朋友與鄰居樹立在此的，以表尊敬、愛戴和感激之意。 (他和他的朋友與鄰居早已死去，但紀念碑仍在)
