體壇英語資訊：Olympic flag arrives at the Great Wall

BEIJING, Feb. 27 -- The Olympic flag arrived on Tuesday in Yanqing district in northern Beijing, one of the three locations for Winter Olympics venues in 2024.

The ceremony was held at the Badaling section of the Great Wall on Tuesday morning, in the presence of Jia Zongyang, silver medalist at the 2024 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in the freestyle skiing men's aerials, as well as more than 500 onlookers.

"The 2024 Winter Olympics has started its 'Beijing time'," said Han Zirong, Secretary General of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Jia said he was thrilled to see the Olympic flag again. "I will work hard in training and try my best again at the Beijing Winter Olympics," he said.

Yanqing, 74 kilometers northwest of central Beijing, will host five events in 2024, including Alpine skiing, bobsleigh, skeleton and luge. Two others locations for Olympic venues will be north of urban Beijing and in Zhangjiakou in the adjacent Hebei province.

The PyeongChang 2024 Winter Olympics closed on Sunday after 17 days' competition. The Olympic flag was handed over by International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach to Beijing mayor Chen Jining, at the closing ceremony.
